frequently asked questions

Can you work with colour photos?
Yes. We can correct colour photos, black and white, sepia etc. and can convert any of these to any other type.

Can you enlarge a small photo, or part of a photo?
Yes. However, extreme enlargements can reveal faults and defects that don't show on the original. We will contact you if the enlargement is likely to make the photo unacceptably fuzzy or unattractive.

Can you make a fuzzy photo sharp?
A little sharpening is possible on some photos. However we cannot correct photos that are basically out of focus.

Can you replace missing parts of a photo?
Yes. If the missing part is an extension of the rest of the photo (such as grass, or a wall) we can probably do so from the original. Complex areas may be replaced by using another photo where the missing detail can be seen.

Can you restore photos with stains on them?
Yes. However, if some areas of the photo are beyond repair, they can often be rebuilt using either existing information
in other parts of the photo or any other facts that you can provide us with in regard to what was originally in the
damaged areas.

Can you combine photos or subjects?
Yes. Send all the photos you want combined together with clear instructions about what elements are to be combined on the new photo. We will contact you to confirm that we understand your requirements and provide a quote.

How long before I receive my restored/retouched photos?
We usually return restored photos within 10 days. If this is not possible through volume of work we will let you know.

How will I receive my restored/retouched photos?
They will be posted to you along with any originals that you sent to us. They will be sent Recorded Delivery unless you request Special Delivery (for an additional cost).

Is there a choice of paper finishes?
Yes. You can choose gloss or matt finishes; gloss is the default. Please specify when ordering.

What is the preferred method of sending photos?
If you are able to scan your photo we would prefer to receive it by email. Posting photos is always slightly risky, so if you send your photos by email there will be no risk of the originals going astray. However, if you are unable to scan your photos we will be happy to receive them by post. For your own piece of mind please ensure that they are posted Recoded Delivery or Special Delivery.

Will my original photo be safe?
Yes. Your photo will be scanned and the original will be stored safely pending return.

Are my payments to you secure?
We receive payments via PayPal - a secure online payment service.
